    WEATHER IN NOVEMBER IN TENERIFE

The weather in November in Tenerife can be compared to a summer in the Low Countries, sometimes even warmer and sunnier.

Anyone traveling to Tenerife in November is naturally interested in the climate and the distinctive weather that graces this subtropical region. To give this article a realistic perspective, we need to consult the meteorological institute and delve into long-term averages.

    Data from Aemet

As the largest island of the Canary Islands, Tenerife has a subtropical climate with mild temperatures throughout the year. November shows greater temperature and rainfall differences between the island’s northern and southern parts. The nature reserve Las Cañadas, Parque Natural del Teide, and Mount Teide are part of a unique high-altitude climate.

The data published in this article are long-term averages, so figures may vary slightly higher or lower. Significant differences, however, are unlikely. As most tourists stay in the south of Tenerife, we use the long-term averages from Aemet recorded at the South Tenerife Airport.

    Temperatures

The maximum temperatures decrease daily by about 2 °C, from 26 °C to just over 23 °C, rarely dropping below 22 °C or exceeding 29 °C.
    Minimum temperatures decrease by 2 °C daily, from 20 °C to 18 °C, and rarely fall below 16 °C or exceed 21 °C.

For reference: on August 19, the warmest day of the year, temperatures in Tenerife typically range from 22 °C to 28 °C, while on February 8, the coldest day, temperatures range from 15 °C to 21 °C.

    Cloud Cover

In November, cloudiness in Tenerife does not increase, with the sky being cloudy or mostly cloudy around 37% of the time. The clearest day of the month is November 28, with clear, mostly clear, or partly cloudy conditions about 64% of the time.

For reference: on November 15, the cloudiest day of the year, the chance of a cloudy or mostly cloudy sky is 38%, while on July 18, the clearest day, the chance of a clear or mostly clear sky is 98%.

    Precipitation

A wet day is one with at least 1 millimeter of liquid precipitation. At Tenerife South Airport, the chance of a wet day in November is around 3%. The average rainfall over a 31-day period gradually increases from 8% to 10%. Rainfall starts at 13 millimeters at the beginning of the month and ends at 18 millimeters, rarely exceeding 44 millimeters or falling below 1 millimeter.

For reference: the highest chance of a wet day in Tenerife is 11% on December 29, while the lowest is (0%) on June 21.

On November 1, sunrise occurs at 7:17 am, and by November 30, it shifts to 7:30 am. Sunset on November 1 is at 6:20 pm, shifting to 6:05 pm by November 30.

For reference: on June 20, the longest day of the year, the sun rises at 7:09 am and sets 13 hours and 57 minutes later at 9:06 pm. On December 21, the shortest day of the year, sunrise is at 7:54 am, setting 10 hours and 21 minutes later at 6:14 pm.

    Humidity

Humidity comfort levels are based on the dew point, which indicates whether sweat will evaporate from the skin to cool the body. Lower dew points feel drier, while higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which fluctuates significantly between day and night, the dew point changes slowly, meaning that even if nighttime temperatures drop, a humid day will generally remain humid at night.
The chance of a humid day in Tenerife decreases rapidly in November, from 15% at the start of the month to 3% by the end.

For reference: on August 30, the muggiest day of the year, there is muggy weather 45% of the time, while on January 14, the least humid day, muggy conditions are at 0%.

This section covers the hourly average wind vector (speed and direction) at 10 meters above the ground. Wind at any location depends significantly on local topography and other factors; thus, instantaneous wind speed and direction vary more than hourly averages.

For reference: on July 16, the windiest day of the year, the daily average wind speed is 25.4 km/h, while on November 6, the calmest day, the average daily wind speed is 16.7 km/h.

I have always given Tenerife a central place and have managed to weave the island into my texts within my editorial and journalistic network. The island, which I have been in love with for decades, has seduced me into writing three books, several reading pamphlets, and thousands of articles, columns, and prose. Information and news are the products, pen and paper are the tools, while engagement is the glue. I want to share the result with everyone. I had to discover it first, then I could articulate it because we are tied to our origins by a thousand threads. Not me..., I was just born in the wrong place. © All works are copyrighted.
