FINE FOR NOISE DISTURBANCE IN TENERIFE

Fine for noise disturbance in Tenerife amounts to €24,700 and was Imposed on kiosk operators at Playa Las Teresitas.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has imposed fines on eight kiosks on Las Teresitas beach for violations related to closing times, noise disturbance, and exceeding the music volume limit of 50 decibels. The operators must collectively pay €24,750 to the municipality, as determined by the municipal government yesterday.

The fines for these beach establishments are due to various reasons, including noise disturbances and non-compliance with closing times. After evaluating the appeals submitted by the business owners, some of which were upheld, the final fines are now being issued.

    Fines for Eight Kiosks

According to Javier Rivero, Councilor for Municipal Property, the case had been under investigation for months, and the violations had already been reported to the kiosk operators. Some of them filed appeals, but not all were accepted. As a result, the municipality has decided to proceed with the formal issuance of fines.

The fines for each kiosk are as follows:

La Isla Gastro Beach Club → €5,050 (four violations)
Joan Manuel Santos (two kiosks) → €2,350 and €1,850 (four violations)
    Feroga 2 → €2,300 (two violations)
    Anaga 5 → €1,600 (two violations)
    Cuncunpra → €3,600 (four violations)
    Comercial Insay 2010 → €3,500 (two violations)
El Caracol → €4,500 (four violations)

The Municipal Urban Planning Department and the Municipal Property Department, responsible for enforcing these penalties, have documented all violations and prepared official reports.

    Complaints

This is not the first time that the Santa Cruz City Council has fined kiosks at Las Teresitas for violating concession conditions. In addition to not complying with municipal regulations on opening hours and noise levels, residents and beach visitors have complained that:

✔ The 50-decibel noise limit is being exceeded
✔ Closing times are not respected (maximum one hour after sunset, based on the lifeguard service schedule, which ends at 8:00 PM in summer)

    Monitoring and Controls

Failing to comply with the concession conditions could result in the revocation of operating licenses. Music disturbance is considered a serious issue, as the mountain formation amplifies the sound, making it louder in the village of San Andrés than on the beach itself. This phenomenon, known as the “loudspeaker effect”, has been repeatedly reported by residents.

The municipality will continue monitoring the situation and may impose stricter measures if the issues persist.

I have always given Tenerife a central place and have managed to weave the island into my texts within my editorial and journalistic network. The island, which I have been in love with for decades, has seduced me into writing three books, several reading pamphlets, and thousands of articles, columns, and prose. Information and news are the products, pen and paper are the tools, while engagement is the glue. I want to share the result with everyone. I had to discover it first, then I could articulate it because we are tied to our origins by a thousand threads. Not me..., I was just born in the wrong place. © All works are copyrighted.
