    CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS IN TENERIFE

Christmas decorations in Tenerife reappear every year as the final month of the year comes to life.

Every self-respecting town or municipality in Tenerife transforms into a colourful and fairy-like decor at Christmas and during the end-of-year period. Christmas decorations create intimacy, atmosphere and cosiness in any hamlet, village, municipality or metropolitan area that focuses on this reformation.

    Increasing sales

Colourful lights and ditto ornaments, decorated Christmas trees, Christmas men, flying sleighs and fun Christmas tunes create romance every year, for some, nostalgia for others. Christmas decorations in Tenerife, partly due to the mild climate, are fairytale-like and enchanting

Connectedness is typically what overwhelms people during the Christmas period. People from all walks of life come together to socialise within the Christmas scene. Merchants and shopkeepers gladly join this tradition; after all, the reconversion provides an economic benefit. Tourists and residents flock to the various centres to enjoy Tenerife’s Christmas decorations and this leads to an increase in sales, which in turn stimulates employment.

    Well in time

Already a month and a half in advance, things were visibly changing. City planning, much publicised, workers hanging ornaments, lights and garlands everywhere and green services were visibly present in the streetscape. Santa Cruz stuns everyone with a new, pioneering concept of Christmas lights on La Rambla.

La Laguna, too, is proud of its Christmas decorations, and shows this by having the Christmas decorations on the streets of its municipality up and running as early as mid-November.

    Summer Christmas

During this end-of-year period, the ocean remains one big swimming pool, much to the children’s delight. The beach turns out to be one gigantic solarium, to the delight of those who want to get rid of winter fatigue and return home with a tan. And finally, all the terraces are wide open, to the delight of all those who want to relax with a drink.

    Santa Cruz

In mid-November, the Santa Cruz city council announced – the largest city in Tenerife also wants to put up the biggest and most beautiful Christmas decorations – that this year the capital will offer an unprecedented light décor that will ensure that the city is revived. They immediately point to the innovative initiative of turning the Rambla de Santa Cruz into a fairytale Christmas setting for the very first time.
In other words, the enchanting Christmas lighting project was installed along the full length of the Rambla de Santa Cruz, from the Acidalio Lorenzo swimming pool to the Comandancia de Marina. In the process, thousands of LED lights were installed in the nearly 200 trees that adorn this beautiful boulevard.

Santa Cruz looks like never before. In this way, Tenerife’s capital puts itself on a par with other major Spanish cities.
But it is not only the capital area that looks fairy-tale, the tourist centres and all Tenerife’s municipalities are also doing their bit. Added to this are the private initiatives taken here and there, in hamlets of the boroughs.

I have always given Tenerife a central place and have managed to weave the island into my texts within my editorial and journalistic network. The island, which I have been in love with for decades, has seduced me into writing three books, several reading pamphlets, and thousands of articles, columns, and prose. Information and news are the products, pen and paper are the tools, while engagement is the glue. I want to share the result with everyone. I had to discover it first, then I could articulate it because we are tied to our origins by a thousand threads. Not me..., I was just born in the wrong place. © All works are copyrighted.
